January 19, 2005 - Airbus's clean air

I was really impressed to hear Tony Blair's speech at the launch of the new Airbus A380. He mentioned, essentially to millions around the world, that the new plane will be the most environmentally friendly ever. Go eco-Airbus!

January 21, 2005 - City of Seattle and UNICEF

As part of the Seattle chapter of the US Fund for UNICEF I got to take part in a press conference today to announce the City of Seattle's Day of Giving for tsunami relief. UNICEF is doing some pretty amazing things for children such as family tracing and centers for children that have been separated from their family. This in addition to all the usual things UNICEF does in these situations to improve the survival, protection and development of children around the world. It was a bit surreal though since I was fitting it into my lunch hour at Harborview hospital (my new day job) and all. From Harborview HR to six TV camera's glaring at me. All in a days work though. Good to do a bit more for tsunami relief too. Sometimes I feel like I should be doing a lot more.

January 24, 2005 - Green Gossip

Being down with a cold this weekend I watched a lot of TV (probably too much) and noticed a couple sustainable style tidbits pop up. On E!'s Fashion Police I noticed that they had the Mioculture tiles that we highlighted in 'showcase' page last year. Guess they're not only fashionistas/os, they're environistas/os!

Next was the latest episode of Queer Eye (episode 151 Pigskin Proposal to be exact). Turns out straight guy Brian is a big environmentalist so the fab five incorported a lot of earth-friendly products into this particular makeover. Nice to know Queer Eye is still keeping a green eye on things.

January 29, 2005 - Future friendly project runway

What a surprise to turn on the TV to watch this week's episode of Project Runway and hear the words "global warming". Apparently, the budding designers' project this week was to work as a team to design a line for the year 2055 and the environment was a key issue. Plus, they had to source all their textiles for the project from a vintage store. Go team, go!

February 5, 2005 - What I found in Fortune

Imagine my complete glee when I opened the latest Fortune Magazine and found several articles on sustainability topics!!! One on socially responsible investment funds, one on Alcan's aluminum recycling and another on the David L. Lawrence Convention Center's green building efforts. Now that's what I call green gold!
